Do you have stained teeth? If so, don’t try to hide your smile or rely on less-than-dramatic store-bought whitening systems. Instead, you should talk to our team about our professional treatment options! In today’s blog, your Garland, TX, dentist talks about how we brighten smiles and offer long lasting results.
The Causes of Stained Teeth
Stains could coat our teeth for a number of reasons. For example, foods and drinks high in sugar leave behind particles for bacteria to consume, creating a plaque buildup that makes discoloration more visible. Stains could also be more likely due to improper brushing and flossing, or infrequent visits for dental cleanings. Beverages with dark pigments, such as red wine, soda, coffee, and tea, could also discolor the teeth. Smoking and tobacco use is another common factor. Understanding the common factors behind discoloration can help you make better decisions to keep your teeth bright and also lower the risk of issues like tooth decay and gum disease.
Three Teeth Whitening Options
Our team offers three different teeth whitening options. We have one you can use from home, which limits tooth sensitivity and offers teeth brightened by up to eight shades. We will create a custom set of plastic trays in-office, and then send them home with you, along with a powerful bleaching solution. The trays will; be filled with the gel and worn for about 15 to 30 minutes a day, over the course of about two weeks. The trays and leftover gel are then yours to keep for future touch-ups.
Our Opalescence Go option is great for people who are very busy or travel often. You will receive a set of disposable trays that are pre-filled with a bleaching gel. You wear the trays as instructed, and they shape to your teeth to offer even and stunning results. For fast results, you can try our in-office teeth whitening. When you arrive, we place a protective covering on your lips and gums, and apply the bleaching gel to the teeth. The hydrogen peroxide gel is activated with a special light, and begins to break up discoloration. In as little as one to two hours, you could have a smile brightened by up to eight shades.
