Shining Smiles With Professional Teeth Whitening

garland teeth whitening

Our professional teeth whitening treatments are designed to provide stunning results that could last for months to come. We have two different options, in-office and at-home. How do they work, and which one is right for you? In today’s blog, your Garland, TX, dentist talks about professional teeth whitening!

At-Home Whitening Options

If you have severe discoloration, we can offer a solution that is used from the comfort of your home, but is much more effective than store bought strips and toothpastes. We start with an initial office visit. Taking detailed digital impressions of your smile, we will create a set of plastic trays. The trays will be sent home with you, along with a powerful bleaching gel. At home, your trays will be filled with gel and worn for about 30 to 45 minutes a day. The trays ensure an even coating of gel in the teeth, and prevent saliva from diluting the gel. You will repeat this for a week to ten days, and could have a smile brightened by several shades! The tray and any remaining gel is then yours for touchups down the road.

Eight Shades Brighter In-Office

We could also offer an in-office option that significantly brightens smiles often by eight shades, and takes only one visit. We begin by placing a protective coating on the lips and gums, before applying a powerful bleaching gel to the teeth. This gel is then activated with a special light, and begins breaking up discoloration. In a single visit, you could see stunning results! This is great if you need brightening in a short time period. If you have permanent teeth stains, the kind that may resist treatment with whitening gels, we could discuss masking them with dental bonding or even porcelain veneers.

Maintaining Bright Smiles

Steps can be taken to help your results last and your teeth stay bright, and many of these steps also help fight cavities and periodontal disease. You should begin by always finding time to brush and floss daily, as this removes the stray food particles that could cause plaque buildup. Try to consume fewer sugar foods and drinks too, as this also feeds harmful stain-causing bacteria. Visit our team every six months for a checkup and cleaning, so we can monitor your smile and remove all plaque and tartar thoroughly.
