Offering A Full Smile With Dentures

Losing a majority of your teeth will impact your overall health, as well as your smile’s appearance. In order to restore your smile to a full and beautiful appearance, we may suggest a custom-made prosthetic, such as a full or partial denture. For patients in Garland, TX, this means offering a lifelike and dependable solution to tooth loss.

What Causes Advanced Tooth Loss?

Why do some of us lose a substantial number of our natural teeth? Multiple factors could lead to tooth loss, such as injury or an untreated cavity. The most common cause however, is gum disease. Without treatment to manage the disease, gum disease could lead to periodontitis, an advanced stage of the disease responsible for adult tooth loss. In addition, losing a tooth means the body stops supplying the jawbone around the lost tooth with calcium and phosphorus. Without these nutrients, the bone tissue begins to break down and could lead to loss of jawbone density and further tooth loss. By addressing the issue early you could avoid the risk of substantial missing teeth.

Partial Dentures

We may prescribe a partial for those with multiple missing teeth, but not enough to require a full prosthetic. Even if the gaps are spread out across the arch, a partial can restore the appearance and function of your smile. The prosthetic contains metal clasps that attach to natural teeth and secure the new ones. The new teeth will be made from lifelike materials, such as ceramic. The base will be made from acrylic and designed to look like gum tissue.

Full and Implant-Secured Prosthetics

A full replaces every tooth on one or both of your arches. As with partials, this will be custom-made using a lifelike acrylic base and natural looking teeth. Suction will hold the new teeth in place. We also have the option of securing your full denture with dental implants. Instead of suction anchoring your new teeth in place, we will place between six and eight dental implants per arch. We then attach a completed denture, providing a fixed prosthetic that never slips and also stimulates the growth of jawbone tissue in the process.
