Are you less than pleased with the appearance of your smile? Why do you feel this way? Is it the result of little chips that cause your smile to look less polished and consistent? Perhaps you are suffering from other minor esthetic issues and keep thinking to yourself that if only you could add some dental tissue, your smile would look lovely. Good news: We can help improve your smile’s beauty with dental bonding. As for the details, allow us to provide you with the essential information.
What Is Bonding?
Dental bonding is a cosmetic dentistry treatment. While it relies on artificial material, it essentially “adds tissue” where you need a bit more for a visually pleasing smile. The material we use is called composite, a synthetic acrylic resin, which we will customize to the shade you need (either to whiten a problem area or to match the surrounding tooth).
What Happens?
The dental bonding process is simple. Once we customize the color of the composite, we will apply the material to the area that needs improvement. We follow application by molding it appropriately. For instance, we may create a thin layer over an issue like a crack. We might sculpt from the end of your tooth outward if we are extending a short tooth. Or, we may fill a chip or fill a space between two teeth, so they look like they touch.
To complete the treatment, we will harden the composite with a curing light. Once hardened, we can polish the material that has set, so it offers a natural glow and blends beautifully with your natural teeth.
