Want A Brighter Smile? We Have Two Different Options!

Over time, everything from our eating habits to our oral hygiene regimen can impact the brightness of our smile. As stains form, you may be interested in seeing your Garland, TX, dentist about possible solutions. We have two very different options to offer professional whitening and brighten smiles, sometimes by multiple shades!

Whitening In-Office and At-Home

We have an option you can use in our office or from your home. The in-office system actually removes stains in a single visit. We apply a covering to the lips and gums and then place the bleaching gel onto the teeth. We activate the bleaching gel with a curing light, breaking up stains in one to two hours total. If you need fast results before an upcoming event, such as a wedding or job interview, this could be a great choice.

Our at-home system offers a solution for more serious cases of discoloration. When the patient comes to the office, we create a set of plastic trays. The trays will be custom-made and fit comfortably. We then prescribe the bleaching gel. At home, patients add gel to the trays and wear them for about 30 to 45 minutes each day. Total treatment takes about one to two weeks. Some patients enjoy a smile brightened by multiple shades. You may then keep the trays and any remaining gel for touch-ups down the road, keeping your new smile bright and beautiful.

Keeping Your Smile Bright

So, you’ve received professional teeth whitening and are very proud of your new results. What steps can you take to keep your smiles bright months after the in-office or at-home whitening? First, you need to take steps to brush your teeth twice daily for two minutes each time. You also need to floss every night before going to bed. These actions help keep your smile bright and reduce the severity of discoloration. We also suggest having your teeth cleaned every six months, which removes plaque buildup and brightens the teeth. At home, try to cut back on sugary foods and drinks, which promote plaque buildup, and beverages with dark pigments (like coffee, tea, and soda) that make discoloration appear.

Veneers and Bonding

In some cases, a patient may have intrinsic, or permanent, teeth stains, which might not respond to teeth whitening. Fortunately, we may suggest bonding or veneers to mask the teeth stains, offering a brighter smile!
