If you have damage, or minor oral health concerns, then you may need repair. Fortunately, we have cosmetic treatments that restore smiles for our Garland, TX, patients in one visit. How does bonding and contouring fix a smile?
The Risks of Damaged Teeth
Even if you have a minor chipped tooth, then you need to see us for repair. Minor damage could still expose the sensitive inner layers to bacteria, leading to a higher risk of cavities and infection. If you have a chipped tooth see us right away. In addition, if you suffer an injury but no damage is visible, remember that fractures are often invisible to the naked eye!
Dental bonding employs the same composite resin we use for dental fillings. The material contains no metal and can be shaded to match your tooth structure. We apply the material to a chipped tooth in multiple layers, shaping the tooth as the composite resin cures under a light. We then polish the tooth for a more natural appearance. The entire procedure only takes one visit. We also use the procedure to lengthen worn down teeth, close gaps between teeth, and mask permanent teeth stains, the kind that would not otherwise respond to teeth whitening.
Dental contouring also only takes one visit to complete. In fact, we may complete the procedure in the same visit as the dental bonding procedure. Instead of adding material to the tooth, we gently buff away outer structure to reshape malformed or overly pointed teeth. We also remove pits and grooves that appear in the tooth structure. If you have any questions about repairing damaged teeth, or if you think bonding and contouring may be right for your smile, then contact our team today.
