Next week, schools across the state will officially open for the new school year. Which means between classes, special events, and extracurricular activities, you might have a difficult time finding a moment to bring your children to the dentist. So, why not schedule a back to school visit for your little ones today?
Checkups and Cleanings
You want your kids to stay healthy and happy. Which means you can’t neglect their oral health! Before the school year starts, why not bring them in for a checkup and cleaning? The checkup allows us to examine their teeth and gums for signs of trouble, such as tooth decay. We can then administer treatment before the problems progress and require more extensive intervention.
We will also thoroughly clean their teeth as well, removing all plaque buildup. Even if your kids brush and floss daily, only a cleaning can remove plaque, a bacterial byproduct that can weaken tooth enamel and inflame gum tissue. The cleaning not only reduces the risk of cavities, but also combats bad breath and teeth stains.
Fluoride and Dental Sealants
In order to help reduce the overall risk of tooth decay, we may recommend preventive treatments. In the same visit, we can administer a fluoride varnish. A naturally-occurring mineral, fluoride can strengthen outer enamel and safeguard smiles against cavities. A dental sealant will involve placing a plastic coating on the rear teeth, which kids often have trouble reaching when brushing and flossing. The coating prevents food from becoming stuck between these teeth, helping them avoid cavities.
We also offer a number of amenities to help kids feel calm and relaxed, enabling them to enjoy their visit! We have stickers, blankest, and pillows, as well as movies, a play area filled with toys, oral health-related coloring books, and even nitrous oxide sedation for kids with dental anxiety.
