Smile Reconstruction
Sometimes, despite our best efforts, our teeth and gums need more help than a simple dental cleaning. It’s not news that plaque does serious damage to our teeth and gums if left for long periods. We may try to fight decay with tooth sealants and fluoride treatments, but sometimes it’s too late. Tooth enamel is not invincible even though it is harder than bone. In such cases, we have to give our teeth a helping hand by restoring them to optimal form and function using the following procedures:
How We Fix It
When tooth decay causes a cavity to form, we must clean out the hole, fill it, and contour it to the tooth’s natural shape. Mai Dentistry uses composite resin fillings. The procedure is simple, common, and appropriate for children and adults. When a filling is not enough to save a structurally compromised tooth, a patient may need a dental crown. When saving teeth is impossible, we perform tooth extractions.
Many considerations come into play as Dr. Vi-Truong Mai develops your restorative dental treatment plan. We look at the health of the remaining tooth structure, your oral health, overall health, and your individual lifestyle needs when determining which restorative procedure might be best for you. And, of course, Dr. Mai talks to you about your goals for the health and appearance of your smile before proceeding with treatment.
Whatever restorative procedure you need, you can expect to have an initial consultation with Dr. Mai during which she will answer any questions that you might have. We will do our best to create a serene environment so that all you have to do is relax and recover.
