Total Smile Transformation
Gone are the days when we only have dental crowns to give our teeth a sparkling radiance. Porcelain veneers can give patients a beaming smile that exudes confidence and beauty in as little as two office visits.
How Do Veneers Enhance Teeth?
Comprised of a thin shell of dental porcelain placed on the front surface of the teeth, porcelain veneers can mask a number of cosmetic imperfections including gapped teeth, crooked teeth, or tooth stains that do not respond well to teeth whitening. Dental porcelain looks remarkably like real tooth enamel, and offers exceptional durability.
Are Veneers Right for Me?
The strength of your dentition determines if you are a good candidate for porcelain veneers. If they are right for you, we move on to the preliminary step: the removal of a small amount of enamel so that the veneers sit well and look natural along the gum line. This step is crucial to avoid the overly “square” and “manufactured teeth” look that badly fitting veneers can cause. Next, Dr. Mai makes an impression of the teeth and sends them to the lab. Using the impression, a lab technician will fabricate your customized veneers out of dental porcelain.
You will return to Mai Dentistry when your permanent veneers return from the lab. We also suggest that you do a follow up visit about two weeks later so we can check how your gums are adjusting to your new veneers.
Veneers are more than a cosmetic accessory; they act as real teeth, allowing patients to eat, drink, and smile with no worries. Keep your veneers in optimal shape with these habits:
- Avoid red wine, dark fruits, and coffee.
- Rinse your mouth with water after consuming dark foods and drinks.
- Keep up with dental checkups and cleanings twice a year.
- Brush and floss daily.
- Avoid hard candy, nail-biting, or chewing ice.
- Wear a mouth guard when playing sports.
Porcelain veneers easily give patients a straight and attractive smile. Feel free to ask us any questions that you may have about this cosmetic procedure.
